The death of an Upper Darby Township woman whose body was found inside her house during the weekend was ruled a homicide Monday after autopsy results showed she was strangled, police said.

The death of an Upper Darby Township woman whose body was found inside her house during the weekend was ruled a homicide Monday after autopsy results showed she was strangled, police said.

Police discovered the body of Masako Griffin, 38, of the 7000 block of Emerson Avenue, on the floor of a second-floor bedroom.

Officers have been called to the house numerous times for domestic issues, said Police Superintendent Michael J. Chitwood.

Chitwood said detectives are looking for the ex-boyfriend, Deschae Lowry, 38, as a person of interest in connection with the case. Lowry sometimes uses Griffin's home as his address, he said.

On July 11, Lowry was arrested after he violated a protection-from-abuse order, Chitwood said. Lowry pleased guilty and was ordered to pay $500 and was released, he said.

"He is the guy that has been responsible for a lot of domestic violence," said Chitwood.

Griffin's missing car was recovered, said Chitwood, but he would not say where.

Griffin's family had planned a candlelight vigil Monday night in her memory, according to Chitwood. - Mari A. Schaefer
