Former Jenkintown AD sentenced for sex with student

Jenkintown High School's former athletic director has been sentenced in connection with a sexual relationship he had with a student in 2010.

Jenkintown High School's former athletic director has been sentenced in connection with a sexual relationship he had with a student in 2010.

Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Carolyn T. Carluccio on Thursday sentenced Mark C. Citron, 46, of Philadelphia, to five years probation and 50 hours of community service, and barred him from teaching. He also was ordered not to have contact with the victim, who was a 17-year-old at the time of the relationship, or with her family.

Authorities said the relationship lasted about six months, and that much of the contact, including one instance of sexual intercourse, occurred in Citron's school office.

He pleaded guilty in April to one misdemeanor count of corruption of minors and one of endangering children's welfare.

"The most important thing at this point is that the victim has the closure she's been waiting for," said Assistant District Attorney Jordan Friter.

Defense attorney Michael Parlow said his client "regrets everything he's done."
