Man charged with animal cruelty; dogs, pony seized

A 49-year-old man was charged with animal cruelty for keeping four dogs and a pony without adequate shelter, food, and water on a lot in the city's Kensington section, the Pennsylvania SPCA reported Friday.

Nelson Machin was charged with five counts of animal cruelty after SPCA enforcement officers executed a search warrant in the 2000 block of Sterner Street on Monday and removed the animals.

The dogs and pony were examined and provided with veterinary care at the SPCA shelter, the organization said. - Robert Moran
