Police: Phila. man was Montco home invader, robber

The man accused of breaking into a Gulph Mills home this week, tying up a woman, and then forcing her fiance to get him money from an ATM has confessed to that and another burglary in Upper Merion Township, Police Chief Thomas Nolan said.

Keith Darrin Morrison, 24, of Philadelphia, allegedly broke into a Holstein Road home around 8 a.m. Tuesday after taking a SEPTA train to the neighborhood and walking to a house.

Inside, he was confronted by the man who owned the home, police said. After tying up the man's fiancee, according to police, the intruder armed himself with a shotgun he found in the house and forced the man to drive to an ATM in West Conshohocken, and withdraw an undisclosed amount of money for him.

Police said the woman untied herself and called them at 8:28 a.m. to report that her fiance had been kidnapped and to describe the car, an orange BMW, that was taken.

Officers spotted the car on South Gulph Road and chased it to a nearby parking lot, they said. There, the suspect ran off. Police caught him in a residential neighborhood.

Morrison was arraigned Wednesday in District Court in King of Prussia on felony charges of robbery, kidnapping for ransom, burglary, criminal trespass, and other counts related to Tuesday's incident.

Nolan said Morrison would also be charged with a burglary that occurred in June. Morrison was held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after not posting bail, set at $250,000.
