HR director resigns after suspension

DOYLESTOWN Bucks County's embattled human resources director officially resigned Wednesday, a few weeks after county commissioners suspended her over revelations that failures in her office led to $450,000 in lost taxpayer money.

The county commissioners officially accepted Meredith Dolan's resignation at its Wednesday night meeting. Dolan, who had been suspended without pay since late June, turned in her resignation letter July 10. The contents of the letter were not released.

"Sloppiness and mistakes and failures" in the office resulted in nearly 40 people improperly receiving county health-care benefits, according to a yearlong grand jury investigation led by the District Attorney's Office.

Commissioners Chairman Robert Loughery had said the suspension was the county's first step in holding Dolan accountable for her office's failures.

Travis Monroe, the office's deputy director, is in charge as the county searches for a new HR director.
