2 critically hurt in Fairhill shooting

Two men were in critical condition after being shot Wednesday night during an ambush in the city's Fairhill section, police said.

Shortly before 8 p.m. in the 400 block of West Cumberland Street, a man parked a pickup truck, got out, and waited for a 1998 Nissan Maxima to drive by, police said. The man then fire at least 15 shots, hitting a 27-year-old man in the passenger seat twice in the back of the head and once in the back. That victim was reported in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, was shot in the back and right leg and also was listed in critical condition at Temple. The Nissan crashed into a police vehicle and the shooter fled in his truck. The entire attack was caught on surveillance video. The assailant remained at large. - Robert Moran
