Philadelphia police have released a surveillance video and are seeking tips to identify the man who sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman early Saturday morning in her home near Rittenhouse Square.

Police say the woman had left the Ladder 15 Bar & Restaurant at 15th and Sansom Streets and was walking to her apartment in the 1900 block of Spruce around 12:30 a.m. The surveillance video released Sunday morning shows a man come up behind her, grab her by the neck, and walk her to the entrance door.

Police say he forced her to open the door and took her upstairs to her apartment, where he sexually assaulted her. After the man left with the woman's keys, she called police.

The video shows the man coming out of the building and walking down the street only to turn around and briefly reenter.

The attacker is described as Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old, about 5-foot-7, weighing 160 pounds, with black hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans, dark baseball cap, and carried a black messenger bag. Before the assault, he was riding a bike that he locked to a pole.

The video can be seen here.

Tips can be submitted by calling 215-686-TIPS 215-686-TIPS, Ext. 8477.

Police say anyone who sees the man should call 911 rather than approach him.
