MCCC to host elder-abuse roundtable
BLUE BELL The county's Elder Justice Roundtable is holding a conference Friday at Montgomery County Community College to discuss problems and solutions related to elder abuse.
Law enforcement officers, lawyers, medical and social workers, and other professionals who come in contact with older adults are invited to attend the forum. The roundtable's goal, according to the county, is "to take a systemic approach to sharing information, rather than a case-by-case review."
The conference opens at 9 a.m. with a speech by County Court Judge Stanley R. Ott. At 10:15 a.m., 6ABC host Tamala Edwards will moderate a panel discussion with a judge, the district attorney, and two medical professionals who deal with senior care issues.
Afternoon workshops will focus on guardianships and powers of attorney, with tools for advance planning, and identifying and reporting suspected abuse. - Jessica Parks
