New principal named at Bonner-Prendie

DREXEL HILL Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School will be getting a new principal - an alum - the Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Faith in the Future announced Monday.

Tracey A. Rush, who graduated from Prendergast in 1989, will take over responsibilities at the school July 1. She is currently on the school's advisory board and chairs the Academic Achievement and Retention Committee. "It is wonderful to have someone who knows the Bonner and Prendie community so well poised to lead the school into an exciting future," said Carol Cary, superintendent of secondary schools.

Rush received her doctorate in higher-education management from the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2011, she has been an assistant professor at Widener University. Rush started her career teaching at Our Lady of Peace and St. Francis of Assisi parish elementary schools in Delaware County.

The schools were slated for closure in June 2012 but saved after a large fund-raising effort.
