Montco food drive runs through August

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Food drive runs through August

A food drive is underway through the end of August throughout the legislative district of State Rep. Tim Briggs.

It is the sixth year that Briggs (D., Montgomery) has run the summer food drive in his district, which includes King of Prussia, Gulph Mills, Villanova, Rosemont, and parts of Lower Merion Township.

The drive comes at a time of year when food donations are lower, but need is still great.

"There is a gap in the summer, when students who are eligible for free or subsidized school lunches aren't in school," Briggs said.

Donations also will assist low-income seniors, he said.

Collection bins are at Briggs' King of Prussia office, 554 Shoemaker Rd., Suite 149; the Upper Merion Township Building, 175 W. Valley Forge Rd.; the Bridgeport Borough Hall, 63 W. Fourth St.; the Ludington, Ardmore and Penn Wynne libraries in Lower Merion Township; and the West Conshohocken Borough Hall, 112 Ford St.
