Installation of Delco history signs to be completed

Final history signs to be installed

MEDIA History buffs will be happy to hear that Delaware County will be finished installing the last of a dozen interpretive history signs just in time for summer.

The signs can be found along Route 291/13 on the industrial riverfront corridor from Marcus Hook to Tinicum.

Each sign will highlight a part of the county's history with a short story about such topics as the area's commerce, industry, wildlife in the wetlands, and music.

To commemorate the occasion on Tuesday, the county will unveil one of the colorful signs located on the property of the Monroe Refinery, 4101 Post Rd., Trainer Borough at 11 a.m.

The cost of the 12 signs was covered by a federal grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. - Mari A. Schaefer
