Police station expansion on hold
WEST CHESTER The Borough Council has voted against an expansion to the police station, a project first proposed in 2011.
Borough Manager Ernie McNeely said the council voted against the $4.1 million project last week and decided to take up the topic again during budget discussions this fall.
"The facilities at the time were tight, but adequate," she said. "Now they're tight, and we're really bursting at the seams."
The project's pricetag has increased from $3.5 million when it was first proposed to $4.1 million due to construction cost inflation, McNeely said. He said the architect, Spiezle Architectural Group, estimates that the cost will be $4.5 million if the project is delayed until 2015. - Tricia L. Nadolny
