Cheyney's Christian earns trip to coaching symposium

Assistant women's basketball coach at Cheyney earns trip to symposium

CHEYNEY Brittany Christian, an assistant women's basketball coach at Cheyney University, earned a scholarship to participate in this year's A Step Up, a symposium for the development of assistant coaches.

The symposium is set to take place May 2-4 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

"I plan to make the most of the experience and to bring what I learn back to the Lady Wolves program here at Cheyney," Christian said in a statement.

Christian, who earned her bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Saint Paul's College (Va.) in 2009 and a master's degree in sports management from Virginia State in 2012, recently completed her first season as lead assistant coach at Cheyney.

Cheyney head coach Kyle Adams attended the same symposium in 2012.

The mission of A Step Up is to help assistant coaches "gain knowledge, discover coaching insights, and develop strategies and techniques to help them reach their full coaching potential in a professional learning environment."
