Delco woman allegedly swindles man

PROSPECT PARK A Delaware County woman is accused of scamming an 84-year-old man out of his life savings, leaving his house in foreclosure, the District Attorney's office announced.

Sylvia Ristick, 45, of Prospect Park, has been charged with theft, receiving stolen property, forgery and other related crimes. She was arraigned and released on bail.

According to court records, in 2006 the victim met Ristick by chance in Philadelphia, and the two began what he thought was a romantic relationship. Ristick convinced the victim she needed money for cancer treatment. She used the funds to buy jewelry, furniture and other items.

The case was uncovered by a niece who checked on the victim and found that his electricity had been shut off and his credit card bills had not been paid.

In 2012, Ristick was arrested in Whitpain Township in connection with a similar "sweetheart swindle," according to officials.
