Public meeting set for Chester County action plan

Residents' views sought on action plan

WEST CHESTER The county's Department of Community Development is holding a public meeting Monday to ask residents for their views on affordable housing and community development as it decides how to use future funding under a federally mandated action plan.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development required the county to create a Consolidated Plan for 2013 to 2017 to address housing and community development needs. More than 90 percent of entitlement funding from the federal department is used to help low- and moderate-income residents in the county.

The Chester County department will also review last year's accomplishments and provide updates on the 2015 to 2016 funding application cycle. The department provides affordable housing, job training, and homeless assistance using federal, state, and county funds.

Monday's meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Chester County Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Rd., Suite 171 in West Chester. - Michaelle Bond
