Lower Merion dog walkers can be town watchers, too

LOWER MERION Calling all dog walkers. Lower Merion police will hold a training session March 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Merion Fire Company, 35 Greenfield Ave., Ardmore, to teach dog walkers to be town-watch volunteers.

The program, called Dog Walker Watch, came from the township's community watch. Unlike that program, during which volunteers go out on organized patrols to look for suspicious activity, the dog walkers will keep an eye out for trouble during their regular strolls.

The one-hour training session is for walkers and their canine friends. Police will discuss what to look for and how best to report suspicious activity.

Anyone interested in signing up for the program should visit for more information.
