Notification bill passes Pa. House

DOYLESTOWN A bill unanimously passed the Pennsylvania House last week that would require facilities that counsel sexually violent predators to notify police if they are providing services to those people.

The proposal, authored by State Rep. Frank Farry (R., Bucks), now goes to the Senate for consideration.

Sexually violent predators are sex offenders who have been deemed likely to strike again by mental health experts and judges.

"It was brought to my attention that residents and law enforcement officers located near counseling facilities that provide services to individuals deemed as sexually violent may not be aware that the individual is entering their community on a regular basis," Farry said after he proposed the bill.
