Montco commissioners set six public meetings
NORRISTOWN In their midterm address last week, the Montgomery County commissioners listed constituent outreach as one of their top priorities for 2014. To that end, the board has scheduled six town-hall forums across the county for February.
The county started these "Conversations With Your Commissioners" last year. The meetings were well-attended and helped the board delve into residents' concerns in each region, including storm-water management, land use, and human services.
The meetings "gave the commissioners a real sense of what issues were on people's minds," Chairman Josh Shapiro said.
The sessions are scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 6, Lower Pottsgrove Township Building, 3199 Buchert Rd.; 10 a.m. Feb. 8, Abington Township Building, 1176 Old York Rd.; 7 p.m. Feb. 10, Ambler Borough Hall, 122 E. Butler Ave.; 10 a.m. Feb. 15, Ludington Library, 5 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr; 7 p.m. Feb. 24, Grand Theater in East Greenville, 252 Main St.; 7 p.m. Feb. 27, Norristown Municipal Building, 235 E. Airy St.
This last meeting also will be broadcast and equipped with a Google Hangout "so residents who can't join us in person can participate via the Web," county spokeswoman Jessica Willingham said. - Jessica Parks
