Teens charged as adults in gun-store holdup

Two teens from Darby, Delaware County, were charged yesterday as adults after their arrests Thursday in a botched holdup attempt at a Collingdale gun shop, police said.

Isaiah Nelson, 15, of Fern Street near 3rd, and Sean Wooden, 17, of 3rd Street near Main, both were charged with robbery, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and theft. Wooden also was charged with drug possession, police said.

The teens donned burqas and tried to hold up Suburban Armory on MacDade Boulevard on Thursday afternoon, but owner Joe Galiano pulled his own handgun, fired a shot at them and called police to the store via silent alarm.

Cops quickly nabbed both teens - one on a SEPTA Route 114 bus, the other in woods near a SEPTA trolley stop on Chester Pike. They were being held in a Delaware County jail yesterday on $150,000 bail each.

Bucks officials ID worker killed at salt facility

The Bucks County Coroner's Office yesterday identified a worker killed Thursday at a rock-salt storage facility as a Burlington County, N.J., man.

Gustav Propper, 51, of Mount Laurel, died of asphyxiation after the 100-foot pile of salt he was trying to move collapsed on him, engulfing the cab of the front-end loader he was operating, a spokesman for the coroner's office said.

The facility is leased by International Salt, a Lackawanna County-based road-salt firm, near the Waste Management GROWS landfill in Morrisville.

Cops stop for doughnuts, find robbery suspect

An Olney man's robbery spree ended when he was caught in the act at a Dunkin' Donuts, police said yesterday.

Raymond Coleman, 43, was arrested Dec. 27 when two 35th District cops stumbled upon his robbery of the doughnut shop, on 5th Street near Somerville Avenue in Olney, police said.

In the incident, Coleman allegedly entered the store armed with a gun and demanded money from a clerk behind the counter. He got spooked, however, when he noticed the patrol officers, and fled empty-handed, police said.

The officers chased Coleman down and arrested him. They later discovered that he's considered a suspect in four additional robberies in the area.

Coleman is charged with robbery and related offenses in those incidents, police said.

The man entered the Wells Fargo branch on 2nd Street near Delancey about 12:23 p.m., police said. He handed the teller a demand note and told workers that he had a bomb before attacking and robbing the woman, who was a customer in the bank.

After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the man fled.

The woman had minor injuries to her lip and knee, and did not need medical attention.
