Philadelphia police are still searching for the man who they say beat and robbed an 81-year-old Temple University professor at knifepoint Tuesday morning.

Late Wednesday, police identified the suspect as Darryl Moon, 45, of Philadelphia. An arrest warrant had been approved for Moon, who has been convicted of several robberies. In 2008, he was sentenced to three to six years in prison for robbery, court records show.

Temple officials initially characterized Tuesday's incident as a "tussle." But details police released Wednesday revealed a much more serious attack.

Around 11:20 a.m., police said, a man entered the office of a professor in Anderson Hall, a classroom building, and punched him in the face. The man then put a knife to the professor's throat, demanded his wallet, then hit the professor again.

The professor suffered cuts on his face and swelling and bleeding on the brain, police said.

Police released a video of the attacker. They described him as between 35 and 40 years old, with a close-cropped beard, wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans, and a lanyard around his neck.
