Woman dies in fiery crash in NE Philly
She was a front-seat passenger in a 2005 Mercury Marquis eastbound on Red Lion Road at Haldeman Avenue when it hit the curb-high median at 11:10 p.m. and struck a second eastbound 1994 Mercury Marquis, police said. Both vehicles spun out of control and hit trees. The newer Mercury burst into fire.
Bystanders pulled the driver, a 22-year-old woman, and the infant out of the newer Marquis, but Drummond was trapped and died at the scene, police said. The driver suffered a fractured leg, while the 1-year-old required treatment for a cut lip, police said.
The 24-year-old male driver of the second Mercury was not injured, but his 19-year-old female passenger and a 1-year-old boy in the backseat were taken to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus for observation, police said.
