Panel to discuss race in America
MOUNT LAUREL A six-person panel will examine the politics of race in "A Conversation on Race in America Part II" at the Mount Laurel Library from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday
The goal is to discuss "how we can work together through open communication to combat racism," according to the event's website.
The event is sponsored by the Southern Burlington County NAACP and the Alice Paul chapter of the National Organization for Women. Panelists include Stacy Hawkins, a law professor at Rutgers-Camden, and John E. Harmon Sr., founder and president of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey.

County offers elder care workshop
WESTAMPTON Adults caring for elderly parents - and those preparing for that eventuality - can register for a daylong workshop, "Caring for Parents," to be held Oct. 5.
The program will be presented by Sheriff Jean E. Stanfield and County Clerk Timothy Tyler. Presentations focus on county programs such as the crisis hotline, 211 help line, and reassurance program, which offers regular "care calls."
Other topics include funeral considerations, Medicaid planning and application, and legal issues such as power of attorney, wills, and estate considerations.
