A 21-year-old woman was killed and three men were wounded in a quadruple shooting Tuesday evening in the city's Kensington section, police said.

Gunfire erupted at 5:53 p.m. in the 100 block of East Somerset Street, and the woman was struck twice in the chest, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The woman and a man were taken by private automobile to the Episcopal Campus of Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m., Small said. She was identified Wednesday morning as Amanda Martinez, 20, of the 100 block of West Luray Street in Feltonville.

Medics took the remaining victims, including the man at Episcopal, to Temple University Hospital.

Small said a large crowd had been "involved in some fighting and arguing all through the day" on the block where the shooting occurred.

The suspected shooter ran from the scene.
