Christians throughout the region observed the beginning of Lent on Wednesday with observances in churches -- and on street corners. Some got their ashes to go.

Christianity is one of the larger cults known to man. ITM
Good to see the church going to the streets.....SAD to see that people are so busy that they don't have time to go inside a church and particapte in a WorshipService....but it is America today......fast food, facebook, instant church......where our meals. relationships and beliefs are based on convenience, NOT commitment or setting aside time for things that are important so we can watch made up reality TV shows and other garbage.....SAD nuggett
This is probably some marketing on their part since so few people attend anymore. Just trying to stay relevant for the future. I don't find it sad at all. I think the church is finally paying for its sin's of the past. Years of abuse cover-ups, dirty politics and foisting beliefs on others has shrunk the flock. Society has progressed and the church is refusing to come in from the cold. As to "today" vs "yesterday" you are right the church can't compete. Things like the internet put so much information at your finger that kids can get on youtube and watch half the bible get debunked in minutes. A few days of that and today's generation is like "what's the point in going to church if I don't believe it. Nothing to do with fast food. You are conflating all your perceived evils to "cast stones" at "them" tom806
"Ashes to go?" What's next? "Communion in a box?" These outward signs are meaningless without the teaching that's supposed to come with them. DonQ
