An ex-police sergeant's second career - allegedly dealing high-grade marijuana - stopped paying off for him last week when he was busted after supplying a Craigslist drug dealer with pot he sold to an undercover officer, police say.

The drugs, cash and guns confiscated at the stately Burholme home of ex-cop Raymond Goldenberg, 60, are valued at more than $60,000, police said - more than the former lawman's $52,840 salary in 2002, his last year on the job, according to city payroll records.

Authorities were led to Goldenberg after a narcotics officer found Jeffrey Simon, 48, a seller who allegedly got his supply from Goldenberg, on Craigslist.org. The officer made a series of buys of weed from Simon, according to court documents.

Undercover cops first met Simon, of Lafayette Hill, on Jan. 31 when Simon offered to meet them at a Pep Boys on Ridge Avenue in the city's Andorra section and sell a quarter ounce of hydroponic marijuana for $125, court documents say. The officers went on to make two more buys from Simon.

Police said that on Tuesday, they arranged to buy a quarter pound of pot from Simon and watched him meet with a man in a black Corvette - later identified as Goldenberg - to pick up the product before the deal.

Cops conducted surveillance of the Corvette, according to court documents, which led them back to Goldenberg's single house with a manicured lawn on Loney Street near Tabor Avenue, in a tidy Burholme development.

Thursday, cops searched the property and found a stash of about five pounds of hydroponic weed with a street value of $20 per gram, 45 grams of hash valued at $1,800, a jar of hash oil, three scales, two handguns and more than $14,000 in cash.

Goldenberg is accused of having the pot shipped to him from California and then selling it out of the house.

A judge last week set bail for Goldenberg at $250,000 on charges including possession with intent to distribute, conspiracy and possession of an instrument of crime. He's scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Simon was also charged with possession with intent to distribute.
