NOW THIS IS a Rocky Mountain low.

A Trenton man flew from Philadelphia International Airport to Denver on Friday to meet what he believed was an underage teen, according to Colorado authorities.

Instead, Edward Gutierrez, 38, was met by Colorado investigators who charged him with luring a child and Internet sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Jefferson County, Colo., District Attorney's Office.

Gutierrez came to the attention of Colorado authorities when he accepted a friend request on Facebook from a 13-year-old girl in November, police said. The girl told police that she thought she knew Gutierrez when she friended him, but that once he accepted her request and she saw his page, she realized she didn't.

Once the two became Facebook friends, Gutierrez allegedly began posting inappropriate things on the girl's Facebook page, which prompted her to contact authorities.

An investigator pretending to be an underage teen then contacted Gutierrez through social media, and Gutierrez began to send sexually graphic messages, authorities said.

This culminated with Gutierrez asking the "girl" to meet him for sex, police said. He arrived in Denver about 10:30 a.m. Friday, police said, and then drove to a restaurant in Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, where he was supposed to meet the girl but was instead arrested.
