Police seeking boyfriend of woman shot to death Tuesday

FIRST CAME the argument, an argument so loud, neighbors could hear it through the walls.

FIRST CAME the argument, an argument so loud, neighbors could hear it through the walls.

Then came the gunshots, multiple rounds that ripped through Rasheedah Blunt's skin and took her life.

As she lay dying, Blunt's future - her 6-year-old daughter - lay sleeping in a nearby room next to a slumbering 3-year-old boy whom Blunt was babysitting.

Now, police want to talk with Blunt's live-in boyfriend, Dominique Haynes, who hasn't been seen since her death Tuesday night.

"We are all over the city looking for him," Homicide Capt. James Clark said.

Police found Blunt, 27, in a bedroom with multiple bullet wounds about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, after a neighbor called police to the apartment on Old York Road near Tioga Street, in North Philadelphia.

Officers found the children - unharmed and still asleep - in another bedroom, Clark said. The boy was returned to his parents, and Blunt's daughter was placed in the custody of family members.

Clark said that Haynes, 33, is a "person of interest" in the case. He and Blunt had dated for six months and lived together for three.

Haynes didn't show up for work Wednesday, police said.

"He's been very well-known to police," Clark said. "He's been arrested quite a few times."

Clark declined to detail Haynes' past crimes, but he did say that gun offenses were among them. Clark also said that Haynes recently got out of jail and remains on probation or parole.

A gun wasn't found at the scene, and the shooter is believed to have fled in a car. Police did not have a description of the vehicle.

Haynes is described as 6 feet 1 and 230 pounds. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call Homicide Detectives at 215-686-3334.
