Water main breaks in Manayunk

Another day, another water main break in Philadelphia.

Another day, another water main break in Philadelphia.

The latest gusher is at Ridge and Manayunk Avenues in Manayunk.

John DiGiulio, a Philadelphia Water Department spokesman, say it's a 12-inch main and that initial reports indicate at least two homes have water in their basements.

Repair crews are at the scene.

The break does not appear to be as serious as others this summer.

Work crews are still doing repairs at 21st and Bainbridge Streets, where a 48-inch main ruptured July 22, gouging a sinkhole in the roadway, flooding basements and knocking out utilities to scores of homes.

DiGiulio said the department plans to wrap up its work on Monday and will turn the hole over to other utilities to complete their repairs.
