1 ticket wins $45M, 1 jackpot hits $158M

In the latest lottery drawings, Mega Millions was won in California, and Powerball rolled over to $158 million.

A Pennsylvania ticket, though, just missed winning Powerball.

Mega Millions hasn't had much luck building a major jackpot since shattering all the records with an annuity prize of $656 million at the end of March.

Friday's drawing produced the fourth straight winner of less than $100 million cash. Not that a $52 million annuity is anything to sneeze at.

That was the jackpot won by a single ticket sold at a Kwik Stop in Fremont, Calif. It matched all the numbers: 2, 3, 4, 8 and 43, with a Mega Ball of 26.

As a result, Tuesday's jackpot will be worth $12 million.

Matching the first five numbers, scoring at least $250,000, were tickets sold in Maryland, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan and Georgia. Also having the Megaplier multiplier option would automatically boost the prize to $1 million.

Meanwhile, Powerball keeps growing.

Four tickets just missed the jackpot Saturday night, matching the first five numbers - 5, 6, 13, 36 and 50 - but not the Powerball of 13.

Idaho and Indiana had $2 million winners, because those ticketholders also purchased the Power Play prize-boosting option.

Tickets sold in Pennsylvania and Illinois won $1 million each.

Where the Pennsylvania ticket was purchased should be known by midafternoon. (Check this article then for an update with that information.)

The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday, and the cash value of the jackpot is an estimated $107.3 million.
