A Point Breeze man, accused of killing a mother of three during a shootout, was found dead in his jail cell, after apparently using a T-shirt to hang himself, according to police.

On April 20, the woman, Clarice Douglas, 45, was fatally shot in the head and back as two men fired at each other in the 1500 block of South Corlies Street in Grays Ferry.

On Sunday, Shekinah Williams, 28, of the 2100 block of Sears Street, was arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, and a series of other offenses.

His body was discovered hanging in his cell, apparently overnight, after bail was set, according to court records, at $500,000.

No further details were immediately available this morning.

Unclear is whether a second shooter was ever arrested.

Hakeem Burley, 23, of Philadelphia, was arrested on weapons charges after being wounded in the incident and treated at a hospital, but he wasn't charged with firing a weapon, according to court records.
