Fire burns through S. Jersey firehouse

A fire ripped through a fire house in Woodbury Heights, Gloucester County, today, causing extensive damage.

One firefighter was taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were hampered in tackling the fire in the at station 15-1 at 534 Elm Avenue because a nearby hydrant was dry.

The blaze was reported about 5:40 a.m. and declared under control at 6:46 a.m.

No fire trucks were damaged.

An investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the blaze.
