Bensalem store recalls ground meat

The ShopRite on Bristol Avenue in Bensalem is recalling all ground meat produced and sold in the store Tuesday because it may contain small pieces of black tray lining pad.

The ShopRite on Bristol Avenue in Bensalem is recalling all ground meat produced and sold in the store Tuesday because it may contain small pieces of black tray lining pad.

The store says no other meat products, including pre-packed ground meat, are affected.

"We are advising customers who purchased any of these products at the ShopRite of Bensalem to return them for an immediate refund or replacement," ShopRite spokesperson Karen Meleta said in a statement.

"Although the pieces of the lining pad may not cause an immediate health risk if ingested, we wanted to alert the public so appropriate steps can be taken."

No injuries related to the recall have been reported.

ShopRite Price Plus Club customers who purchased any ground meat at the store Tuesday have been notified by telephone, the spokeswoman said.

Customers who purchased store ground meat on Tuesday should return it to the store for a full refund or replacement.

Meat sold in other ShopRite stores is not affected.
