Police: Man shoots woman for sitting on his car

A 59-year-old man has been arrested and charged with shooting a woman because she was sitting on his car in North Philadelphia, police said.

A 59-year-old man has been arrested and charged with shooting a woman because she was sitting on his car in North Philadelphia, police said.

Patrol officers armed with the car's description stopped and arrested Neoma Mayes after the shooting Sunday afternoon near Green and 7th Streets.

The 30-year-old victim, who was wounded in the chest, is recovering at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Police said Mayes, who lived nearby on the 600 block of North Marshall Street, was upset because people were sitting and leaning on his car.

Mayes has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, illegal possession of a weapon, terroristic threats and other offenses.
