New flu clinics in Bucks and Montco

Bucks County today scheduled its first public swine flu clinics for vaccine priority groups other than school children.

The vaccine, which is free but limited to county residents, will be administered from 4 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Pennridge High School in Perkasie, Dec. 14 at Central Bucks High School South in Warrington, and Dec. 15 at Pennsbury High School East in Fairless Hills.

More than 41,000 doses were administered over the past two weeks to school-age children, the largest of the high-risk groups, county health department director David Damsker said in a news release. The county now has enough to begin vaccinating the other target groups: caregivers and household contacts of infants under 6 months old; everyone between 6 months and 24 years of age; people 25 to 64 with underlying medical conditions; pregnant women; and emergency medical services workers.

For more information, call 1-877-477-4492 or go to http://go.philly.com/flu/ (click on Bucks County).

Details on other clinics - Montgomery County's is scheduled next Thursday in Lansdale, and Philadelphia is running clinics throughout the city - are posted as well. - Don Sapatkin
