Police seek hit-run driver who hurt twins

Police believe they know who was driving the car that hit and injured 8-year-old twin sisters before speeding away yesterday in the city's Crescentville section.

Investigators called Shawn Timbers, 22, a "person of interest" in the hit-and-run accident and said they want to speak with him.

Timbers, of the 1200 block of Alcott Street, is a relative of the owner of a gray Lincoln Town Car that struck the girls about 3:40 p.m. on Colgate Street at Cheltenham Avenue, police said.

One of the girls - Kaitlyn Bradfield - remains in critical condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children while her sister Eryca reportedly has been released and gone home.

The car ran over Kaitlyn at her midsection, leaving tire marks on her clothing, and knocked Eryca to the street.

Police said several witnesses ran after the Lincoln, which was going south on Colgate, and were able to get a license plate number.

Investigators tracked the license plate to a car in Northeast Philadelphia matching the witnesses' descriptions and questioned the owner, police said.

The girls live on Cheltenham Avenue near the accident scene and apparently were crossing the street to go to a store, police said.

Police asked anyone with information about Timber's whereabouts to contact Accident Investigations at 215-685-3180.
