When a crowd in the parking lot of the Brick House Tavern, in Willow Grove, cleared out as an Upper Moreland police officer pulled in about 12:30 a.m. Monday following Game 4 of the World Series, Moore, 31, of Hatboro, didn't leave, police said.
Instead, he allegedly ran up to the officer and complained that he'd been punched just because he was a Yankees supporter.
The culprit? A Phillies fan who disappeared into the crowd and didn't leave a mark on Moore's face.
Police never found the phantom fighter but Moore was so intoxicated - clocking in at 0.20 on a Breathalyzer test, police said, more than double the legal limit - that he did manage to get himself arrested for public drunkenness.
A subsequent search of his bag revealed that he had marijuana and a tinfoil pipe, and a search of his criminal background revealed that he had about $1,000 in outstanding traffic warrants, according to police.
When Moore's friend Marcus Malloy arrived to give Moore a ride home, he too was arrested.
Malloy, 31, of Elkins Park, had an open container of whiskey at his feet when he pulled up in his Chevy Tahoe, police said.
During a pat-down, Malloy was also found to have marijuana and prescription pills that had not been prescribed to him, police said.
He was not charged with drunken driving because his Breathalyzer test registered below the legal limit, police said.
He was charged with simple possession and having an open container, among other crimes, before being released, police said.
Moore was arrested for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and related offenses, police said. He was taken into custody on the outstanding warrants and held overnight until they could be resolved, police said.
