Man dies in West Philadelphia fire

A man is dead after a West Philadelphia rowhouse fire this morning, officials said.

Fire fighters began battling the one-alarm blaze in the 1400 block of North Felton Street at about 6:30 a.m. and had it under control within a half-hour.

But the man was found dead on the second floor, which was where the fire originated, according to a department spokesman.

According to neighbors, the victim was Charles Ingram, who was in his mid 50s.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Also, a fire fighter was injured in an overnight house fire in Kensington.

The blaze, in the 3100 block of Arbor Street, was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m.

The fire fighter, in his 40s, was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital after being injured by falling debris.

He was not trapped and his injuries were not life-threatening, a dispatcher said.
