At 1:25 this morning, a man driving a Range Rover stopped to talk with a young woman at 57th and Addison Streets in West Philadelphia.
Two men approached. One tried to open the driver's door, while the other tried to open the passenger's side door.
As the motorist drove away, a bullet fired from behind lodged in his head, according to police.
The man managed to drive about a half-mile to the police station at 55th and Pine Streets. He was then transported by medics to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was in critical condition.
The other incident happened shortly before 8 last night in the 1200 block of S. Bucknell Street in South Philadelphia.
Police responded to reports of gunfire, but found no victim at the scene.
After checking area hospitals, investigators found that a man in his 20s, with at least two gunshot wounds, drove himself about a mile and a half to Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse, formerly Graduate Hospital.
He was transferred to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was in critical condition last night.
Although an initial report said he had been shot in the arm and back, a police spokeswoman said this morning he had been shot in "all his extremities," apparently meaning both hands and both feet.
