Four men were shot, one fatally, in three incidents across the city yesterday, police said
The bloodshed began when two 19-year-old men were shot shortly before 3 p.m. on 56th Street near Pentridge Street in West Philadelphia, police said. Both men were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where one died and one remained in stable condition.
Police did not identify the deceased victim pending family notification.
About 9 last night, a man in his 20s drove himself to the hospital after he was shot twice in South Philadelphia, police said. The man was wounded in the arm and back after an argument on Bucknell Street near Federal, said Lt. Martin Derbyshire of South Detectives.
The victim, whose name was not released, drove himself to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. His condition wasn't immediately available.
About 10 p.m., an unidentified man was shot at 55th and Chancellor streets in West Philadelphia in a robbery gone awry, police said. The victim was sitting in a car with an unidentified woman, who was not injured, when the suspect asked her for a cigarette.
When she told him she didn't have one, he announced a robbery and fired one shot into the passenger seat of the car, police said. The victim, who was shot in the groin, was in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania last night.
Police reported no suspects or motives in any of the shootings.
