A gunman shot and wounded a man during an argument this morning and apparently fled into a house in East Germantown, sparking a standoff with police that ended when they determined he had escaped.
The shooting occurred on the 800 block of E. Stafford Street after the victim walked away from an argument and got into a mini-van, police said.
The gunman, who had removed his jacket and tried to entice the victim into a fight, then drew a silver revolver and fired.
A friend of the victim drove him to Germantown Hospital and from there he was transferred to Albert Einstein Medical Center. The bullet went through the man's abdomen, but the wound was not serious, police said.
The gunman was believed to have barricaded himself in a house on E. Stafford, but a SWAT team entered the home and did not find him.
The police are looking for a 29-year-old man whose name has not been released while investigators work on obtaining warrant for his arrest.
