A car ran off Route 55 and into the woods in Gloucester County this morning, killing one person inside the vehicle and seriously injuring another.
The accident at mile post 59.5 in Harrison Township shut down the highway, a heavily traveled Shore route, for about an hour this morning.
Both victims had to be cut out of the car and the surviving one was airlifted to a hospital.
State Police are trying to determine why the car ran off the road in the northbound lanes around 10:30 a.m.
