Children wandering along the banks of the Delaware River Sunday discovered the body of a woman at the RiverWinds complex in West Deptford Township.

Gloucester County Investigators today asked for help from the public to identify the woman who they described as white, in her mid-60s, 5-foot-8, and weighing about 197 pounds. She was wearing size 18 Eddie Bauer brand jeans, a cotton knit sweater and New Balance athletic shoes.

She was wearing a Timex Ironman wristwatch on her left wrist and one ball-shaped clip-on earring on her left ear. X-rays taken of the body showed a left leg tibia/fibula surgery with a plate and three screws inserted.

It appeared the woman had been in the water for some time. She was found face down with debris covering portions of her body.

Anyone with information about a missing person matching the woman's description is asked to contact West Deptford Investigator John Chambers at (856) 625-7439 or Det. Robert Hemphill of the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 384-5500 or Sgt. Jack Donegan of the State Police at (609) 882-2000, ext 2554.
