Princeton band members reported assaulted in S.C.

A confrontation between Princeton's marching band and some cadets at The Citadel has accusations flying.

It happened before and during Saturday's football game in Charleston, S.C. Band leader Alex Barnard told radio station WPRB-FM, located on the Princeton campus, that some band members were physically assaulted by cadets who felt the band shouldn't march in an area of campus called the Avenue of Remembrance.

Barnard said Citadel officials had put no restrictions on where the band could march.

During the game, a group of cadets surrounded the band and screamed epithets. Police and school officials eventually dispersed the group.

In a statement, Citadel President Lt. John Rosa said cadets have to be held to a higher standard.      - AP
