With the national sports media booming the Eagles as a Super Bowl contender, Morning Report thought it would be instructive to see what people who actually cover the team were thinking.
The following is a list of Inquirer staffers and columnists who offered both a prediction and a comment.
Bob Brookover: 10-6
"I think the wide receiver [DeSean Jackson] can be a difference maker even if he's only a rookie."
Sam Carchidi: 9-7
"They need a stud WR more than the Phillies need a reliable setup man."
Frank Fitzpatrick: 9-7
"It would be 12-4 with a legitimate wide receiver or two."
Bob Ford: 10-6
"I believe McNabb is going to have a good season. I also believe the team is still not at an elite level."
John Gonzalez: 9-7
"This Lito thing seems to be working out nicely. I suspect he and Andy will be good friends for a long time to come."
Mike Jensen: 12-4
"It's a Dr. Z pick. I've been a Paul Zimmerman fan for more than 30 years."
(Note: Sports Illustrated's Dr. Z picks the Eagles to make the Super Bowl.)
Joe Juliano: 8-8
"Lack of depth at wide receiver will keep the Eagles from reaching their full potential."
Ray Parrillo: 10-6
"The defense gets them a wild-card spot. The offense gets them a quick playoff exit."
Don McKee: 8-8
"There are only two reasons the Birds can't go 12-4; Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid."
