Phila. police seek man who used murder victim’s credit card

Homicide investigators are looking for a man who used a slain robbery victim's credit card to buy three baseball caps an hour after the killing at a store just four blocks away from the crime scene in West Philadelphia.

Releasing a store surveillance video of the man, police said they do not know if he was the killer but they would like to speak to him.

The victim, Corey Moody, 38, the father and stepfather of seven, was bashed with a brick about 4:30 p.m. Friday at 48th and Market Streets while on his way home from work.

The video shows a man accompanied by two boys walking into a store and buying three baseball caps an hour later.

During the visit to the shop, the man admires himself in a mirror and shows off a chain with a lock and an oversized fake designer watch he had bought using the credit card at another store a short time before.

One of the boys holds a black bag apparently filled with clothing bought a short time before.

The man purchased more than $500 in merchandise using Moody's credit cards at three stores, said Capt. James Clark, commander of the homicide unit.

Anyone with information was asked to call detectives at 215-686-3334 or 3335.
