The best part of last night's deal that apparently will put Elton Brand in a 76ers uniform is this - the former Bull and Clipper twice led the NBA in offensive rebounds (in 2000 and 2002).
Favre saga. As Brett Favre is nudging closer to coming out of his brief retirement, speculation already is running rampant on where the quarterback will land.
Briefly, Favre and his agent have been attempting to contact the Green Bay Packers, who are brushing him off. According to Sports Illustrated, agent James "Bus" Cook will ask the team to take Favre off the NFL's reserve/retired list in the next 10 days.
Favre had two years remaining on his contract when he retired. If the Packers activated him, they would have to keep him, release him or work out a trade.
So where will the future Hall of Famer land, if Green Bay decides to continue plans to make Aaron Rodgers the starting QB?
According to Bill Williamson of ESPN.com, there are three teams that are a good match for the 38-year-old: the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But what's most fascinating is what Williamson said about the Eagles.
"It's about a year too early for the Favre-Eagles pairing," he wrote on the Web site. "Donovan McNabb could be on his way out in Philly, but not now. Eagles coach Andy Reid has a history with Favre and it would make sense in a year, but not now."
But the bet here is that Favre will play in Cheesehead country, or stay in Mississippi.
Shades of Rocky. Boxer Kelly Pavlik probably didn't envision Rocky Balboa walking the Philadelphia waterfront looking for thumbs to break when he went to the police in Ohio.
But the story is familiar. The middleweight champion filed a police report June 30 in Boardman Township, Ohio, claiming a former sponsor threatened to shoot his hands so he could not fight again.
Pavlik told police the person making the threat believes that the boxer owes him money.
No arrests were made, but Sylvester Stallone reportedly has requested the screen play.
Finally. Once again Morning Report brings you information that proves the old adage about news being stranger than fiction.
It concerns 68-year-old European auto racing chief Max Mosley, who was accused of participating in a five-hour sex session with four prostitutes.
Mosley admits the encounter and has acknowledged a lifelong interest in sadomasochism, according to the Associated Press in London.
Mosley, however, is suing Britain's News of the World newspaper for claiming the sex party had a Nazi theme.
Mosley's father, the late Oswald Mosley, was the leader of Britain's pro-Nazi fascist party before World War II.
Max Mosley said Monday he found the idea of Nazi sex fantasies abhorrent. He said he and the women acted out a German prison scenario, but without any Nazi aspect.
Yesterday, one of the women, tabbed "Mistress Switch" by the newspaper, told Britain's High Court that she organized "spanking parties" attended by Mosley, whom she knew as Mike.
All four women, who were unidentified in court documents, said the party had no Nazi theme.
There was no word on what the group might have planned for future parties.
