INQUIRER STAFF REPORT

Police this morning identified a 29-year-old man who was shot to death in Southwest Philadelphia yesterday.

Sokoni Meachum was found lying on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds to the chest in the 2500 block of South 66th Street shortly before 6 p.m., police said.

Meachum, of the 2500 block of South Shields Street, was transported to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania and pronounced dead at 6:23 p.m.

No arrests were reported.

Phillies fall out of first place
Carlos Delgado hit a tiebreaking, two-run double in the eighth inning and Oliver Perez recorded 12 strikeouts as the Mets beat the Phillies, 3-1, to take over first place in the NL East.
