N.J. Native American group receives grant

The Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indians of New Jersey have received a $23,000 grant for youth and senior programs in Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.

"The Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe is a state-recognized American Indian Tribe that promotes cultural awareness, community advancement and tribalism among its members," said Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D., Gloucester). "The grant will boost their outreach endeavors and provide greater access to necessary resources in areas such as health, employment and education."

Community Services Block Grants are awarded to local agencies to provide services to low-income residents. The federally funded program is administered through the state Department of Community Affairs.

"This funding is about assisting those in most need," said Assemblyman Douglas Fisher (D., Cumberland).
