A body was retrieved in Maple Shade this afternoon after it washed up on the banks of Pennsauken Creek, police said.
Authorities have not released any further details.
In January, two men confessed to beating a teenager to death and dumping her body in the waterway.
Officials believe that Felicia Mikels, a 17-year-old mother from Pennsauken, was bludgeoned at a garage where her uncle, Christopher Mikels, stored cleaning equipment.
Prosecutors have charged Christopher Mikels, 26, and Douglas Mandichak, 25, with her murder.
During questioning, Mikels told police he might also be the father of Felicia's baby, Miciana Ramos. Uncle and niece lived together in a home shared by other relatives.
Mandichak, who is being held on $1 million bail, led detectives to the Cinnaminson site where he said Mikels' body was thrown into the water.
Search teams from the New Jersey State Police searched the tidal creek's icy waters but were unable to find the girl's body.
A spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's office said that the medical examiner will attempt to make an identification, but that an announcement may not be possible until tomorrow.
Christopher Mikels has been charged with being an accessory to murder and is being held on $750,000 bail. Both men remain at the Camden County Jail.
