Obama Girl to attend Harrisburg party

HARRISBURG - She crushed on Obama on YouTube, on television, and now she'll do it live and in person in the state capital.

That would be Amber Lee Ettinger, better known as the Obama Girl. For the uninitiated, she is the Hazleton, Pa., native who skyrocketed to fame last year when she confessed to the entire world in a music video - while clad in short shorts and tight tops that left little to the imagination - that she has a "crush" on Sen. Barack Obama.

You can Barack me tonight

I got a crush on Obama.

Ettinger, a model and actress, will appear, and possibly perform, at an invitation-only "primary party" at a downtown Harrisburg nightspot Monday. The party is hosted by the Bravo Group, a well-known lobbying and strategic communications firm in the capital.

Politicians, including Gov. Rendell and legislative leaders, are invited.

Jeanette Krebs, Bravo vice president of public relations, said the firm wanted to do something fun now that Pennsylvania is in the national spotlight for its April 22 primary.

And because they knew they probably couldn't get any of the presidential candidates to show, Krebs said they decided to call someone "related to the election."

Since the 475 invitations were sent out last week, Krebs said, "lots of people have been calling to find out whether it's the real Obama Girl."

The answer is yes.

Ettinger will attend the party, scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Harrisburg's Privado club, where she will meet and greet, and maybe even perform her "Crush on Obama" song. At 10 p.m., she will perform for the public at the club (and, yes, there will be a cover charge).

Ben Relles, founder of Barelypolitical.com, the political satire Web site that created the Obama Girl videos - there are now 20 - said yesterday that Leah Kauffman, the Temple University student who co-wrote and sang the "Crush" song to which Ettinger lip-synchs in the video, would also attend the party.

"We're all excited about being there . . . almost everyone involved in the project has a Pennsylvania connection," said Relles, of Fort Washington, who also plans to be at the party.

Krebs said yesterday she did not yet know how many people would attend.
